NORMAN A MORDUE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

We’re here to support the youth of Elmira through scholarships for higher education in honor of one of Elmira’s finest native sons and most distinguished leaders, Norman A. Mordue.

He mentored and inspired multitudes with his athletic, military and legal accomplishments during his lifetime. Norman Mordue’s legacy is now challenging Elmirans to become the city known to be the leader in providing higher education support for its youth and future leaders.

We’re looking for the leaders of tomorrow.

RAISING THE PROSPECTS OF ELMIRA’S YOUTH

HIGHER EDUCATION

It makes all the difference in the world!

Higher Lifetime Earnings

Adults with a bachelor’s degree earn substantially more over their working lives than those whose education stops at high school, often about 70–100 percent more in total lifetime earnings.
College graduates also experience lower rates of poverty, which improves long‑term financial stability for themselves and their families

Better Jobs and Job Security

Many careers in fields like healthcare, technology, education, and engineering require at least some college, so a degree opens doors that a high school diploma alone cannot.
College‑educated workers are more likely to be employed and have significantly lower unemployment rates than those with only a high school diploma

Personal Growth and Key Skills

College and Trade Schools help students develop critical thinking, communication, and problem‑solving abilities that employers value and that are useful in everyday life.
They also offers chances for exploration, independence, and networking with professors and peers, which can guide career direction and create future opportunities

Better Health and Quality of Life

People with more education are less likely to report chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes and are more likely to exercise, avoid risky behaviors, and use preventive health care.
Jobs from higher education make it easier to afford better housing, nutrition, and health insurance, which further improves overall well‑being.

Elmirans Helping Elmirans

We cannot do this without your support.

Donating to our scholarship fund gives companies a mix of community impact, marketing value, talent pipeline benefits, and potential tax advantages, not just a “feel‑good” moment.

  • Donations show a visible commitment to local students and families, which builds goodwill and strengthens the overall health of the community where the business operates.
  • Local scholarship sponsors often receive name and logo placement on NAM program materials, websites, event signage, and social posts, which increases corporate brand awareness while enhancing employee pride and loyalty.
  • NAM Scholarships help educate local students who may later intern or work at sponsoring companies, effectively creating a future talent pipeline tied to the business and its industry.
  • We can work out special ‘Named’ prizes or scholarships with corporations, NGOs, colleges, universities, technical, and military schools that provide significant contributions.

Employees often feel more proud and engaged when their employer is visibly giving back, which can improve morale and retention.

Corporate Donations to a 501.c.3 Not-For-Profit Charitable Corporation are Tax Deductible in accordance with IRS laws.
